India is no ordinary travel experience, but a completely stirring adventure that you will never forget. During this highly intense eight-day trip, you accompany your guests in royal style from the cosmopolitan Delhi with its lively markets and the skyscrapers of modern India to the Golden Triangle in Rajasthan, the fairytale world of forts, princes and palaces.
Speaking of a royal start: when you arrive in Delhi, you find a royal bed awaiting you in the Victorian Imperial Palace. When you take your place in a rickshaw the following day, there will be no doubt at all that you are truly in Asia. From Chandni Chowk, the crowded market street of Old Delhi and Jama Masjid, the biggest mosque in the country, you ride to the 72-metre-high towers of Qutab Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 12th century. In the evening, spiritual Sufi music will send your guests into ecstasy, and after a refined dinner in the gardens of the Lodi Restaurant, you become one with the gods.
Over the next three days, you and your guests travel to Agra and take a horse and carriage from the Red Fort to the most romantic Seventh Wonder of the World: the Taj Mahal. The “tear on the face of eternity” was built in 1631 by the Emperor, Shah Jahan, for his deceased wife, and is the universal symbol of the love that leaves you speechless.
You start the next day in the air: before you climb inside a jeep that takes you up the mountain to the impenetrable Amber Fort in Jaipur, you rise skywards in a hot air balloon for the best possible view of this Mogul monument in white and red sandstone. During the afternoon, the adrenaline flows once more as you play a game of polo on the back of an elephant.
During the final days of your trip, you move from one amazing experience to another: “glamping” in a luxury tent encampment, wandering among the colourful traders at the camel market and a magnificent gala dinner in the Hall of Mirrors of the fairytale Samode Palace (the fifth best hotel in the world according to The Times) will leave you with a totally indelible impression.
